NWHeat, Orbis Cascade Alliance, NorthWest Academic Computing Consortium: Volunteer for the NWHeat Digital Accessibility Project

To all Alliance member staff:

NWHeat is a collaboration between Orbis Cascade Alliance and NorthWest Academic Computing Consortium (NWACC) to advance our common goal of ensuring digital systems and services are equitably accessible to all users. Our overarching goal is to cultivate a community of practice among faculty and staff supporting digital accessibility on their campuses through professional development opportunities and by sharing best practices, knowledge, and resources.

NWHeat is seeking volunteers from the library community who are interested in accessibility, have knowledge about accessible technology and strategies, and are interested to learn more. We hope that volunteers will be able to commit to at least one year of service, with the possibility of continuing if interested.

Positions are open on the:

Accessibility Knowledge Base Team, which develops and maintains a knowledge base of accessibility related resources for the NWHeat website. The team also creates original content in the form of short posts about special topics. Team members enjoy discovering and curating reliable sources of information, have an interest in information management, and would like to help manage a Wordpress site.

Steering Committee, which provides guidance on NWHeat projects, such as the knowledge base and webinar series, develops future directions, and helps recruit participation in our programs. Steering Committee members have an interest in advancing digital accessibility on our campuses, contributing to planning and implementing programs, and enjoy networking and community building amongst accessibility advocates.

Please express your interest by completing our brief Volunteering Questionnaire by May 5, 2025.
