Wade Guidry and I have this info for this week's Systems community update:

Upcoming Alma and Primo updates

The Alma March release will be installed on the premium sandbox on Sunday morning, February 28. The install on production will follow on March 7. Once they are available, Release Notes will be posted on the Knowledge Center, at: http://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Release_Notes_and_Videos.

And, as noted by Kelly Peterson-Fairchild in her Feb 23 email to dd-community, the following Primo activities will be happening in Alliance sandbox and production environments over the next few weeks:

  • Anticipated Primo February Release to Production - March 6
  • Premium sandbox renorm/reindex Feb 25-28 - Normalization rule update on the Premium Sandbox
  • Normalization rules testing by institutions: Feb 29 to March 14 (two-week window)
  • Anticipated window for new normalization rules to go into production, via renormalization and reindexing: March 18 to 20
Institutional Discovery & Delivery representatives can find information about testing in Lesley Lowery's Feb 25 email to the dd-community list.

Call for issues, Priority Support Issues

For the Priority Support Issues channel:  Please note Wade's February 23 email to sys-discussion requesting issues. The March list will be sent to Ex Libris next week, following a Thursday Alliance PSI group planning meeting. Ex Libris has hired a new North America Support specialist who will be based on at headquarters, in proximity to Development, and will contribute to ExL's responses on the submitted issues for March.

Alliance Information Technology Manager position

I want to remind the Systems community of the Alliance IT Manager position that's open. Applications must be submitted by March 11. Please reach out to potential candidates and share the position posting. It”s an opportunity to work with some great technologies and some fun staff.

Alma enhancements process underway

As announced internally and on ALMA-L, the Alma Enhancements process is getting underway. Currently, the user groups' Alma Enhancement team is reviewing the 378 previously submitted requests, along with the 290 new requests, as they prepare the Alma Enhancements ballot.

The Alliance Alma Enhancements Working Group, chaired by Bonnie Parks of the University of Portland, will begin meeting towards the end of March. Similar to last year”s process, Alliance institutional ELUNA representatives can expect additional information and calls to action some time in early- to mid-April, and then again in mid-June. Additional information will be provided as that time draws nearer.

Ex Libris Annual Meeting activities

The Ex Libris Technical Seminar, which will be held on May 2-3 in Oklahoma City, just prior to the start of the ELUNA Annual Meeting. Registration will open on March 1. One and two day registration is supported for this Ex Libris led and managed event.

To correct information that Al included in the September 4, 2015 Systems update:  Ex Libris will be offering in-person Primo certification training during this year”s Technical Seminar.

Note that ELUNA will be hosting its first Developers Day on May 3 - this event occurs on the same day as day 2 of the ExL Technical Seminar; you should take this into account when registering.

The ELUNA Meeting will follow on May 4-6. Registration for the user group meeting will open in March.
