E-Books: Annual DDA Title Removal Process

In order to keep the DDA program in budget and to respond to actions taken by publishers, the E-book Working Group is again planning to removal unpurchased titles from the DDA pool.

There will be two periods of removal:
  • July 13-14: Removal of BRILL and NYU Press titles published Jan. 1, 2014 and after. The publishers will no longer allow short term loans on these titles as of July 15, so they will be removed to avoid patron confusion.
  • August 7-10: Removal of titles over $200, titles dated earlier than 2013, and the remaining BRILL and NYU Press titles.
Library staff are encouraged to review the list of titles slated for removal, and make local purchasing decisions. Like last year, there is a sheet that notes the number of short term loans by title and by institution, so libraries can scope their review quickly.

Shared Content Representatives @ Summer Meeting

The Team is looking forward to meeting the representatives and having a great discussion at the Summer Meeting on July 9 from 9:00-10:30 am.

Based on the feedback we received, we'll spend the time discussing the the roles of representatives, the future of shared content, e-books, and Alma central record management. These conversations will build on the Shared Content sponsored sessions being held during summer meeting.

Safe travels to Portland next week!
