1. Call to Order & Introductions

The Shared Content Team’s inaugural meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. Members introduced themselves.

2. Minutes and Notes

Mike took notes and is pleased to continue to take notes at meetings, or notetakers can rotate, as the team prefers. We shall provisionally meet through June, 1:00-2:00 p.m., Fridays every two weeks: March 20, April 3, April 17, May 1, May 15, May 29, June 12, June 26.

3. Review Team Goals

The team reviewed its goals at https://www.orbiscascade.org/shared-content. We will, in our first meetings, turn to goals associated with the first two programs listed, Shared eBooks/DDA and WEST, as those programs bring financial and in some cases time-sensitive commitments from participating institutional members of the Alliance. Tina will report to the team about WEST developments after she attends the Alliance Council meeting on March 12-13. Our team will consider WEST at its next meeting on March 20.

4. Decide on E-Book Working Group's Draft Walk-in Policy

The team reviewed the draft document “Walk-in Policy for Alliance Demand Driven Acquisition E-book Program 11/14/14.” We suggested retaining the “Background” and “Policy” sections, and changing the “Implementation” section to contain only the first sentence while deleting the word “single.” Serin, who chairs the eBook Working Group, will communicate these suggestions at the working group’s next meeting and then follow up with us at our March 20 meeting, with intent to finalize the policy’s wording.

5. Other

Gordon asked members of the former Collection Development and Management Committee (Jill, Kathi, and Serin) for words of wisdom as the Shared Content Team now begins its work. Kathi indicated that our team may wish to meet in person whenever necessary, e.g. when we need to consider lots of data with which to report out to the institutional members of the Alliance. While CDMC worked with some similar goals and topics, a new emphasis for the Shared Content Team is understanding the work of and helping maximize the effectiveness of the Shared ILS. Our team may wish to identify and charge standing or ad hoc working groups, and invite former CDMC members or individuals from outside to become WG members.
