Meetings

Team met via Phone for initial meeting on 1/11/10.  Subgroup formed to immediately begin work on cloud an offline storage.

Launch meeting held in person on 2/3/10.  Subgroups formed to tackle issues in charge.  Post meeting contacted other interested individuals who are still willing help DST out. Subgroups reporting back to DST March 5, 2010.


  • Code4Lib NW

    • to be held June 4, 2010 at White Stag

    • Presenters are being recruited

    • Registration forthcoming

  • Cloud Storage

    • Applied for pilot in DuraSpace experiment; expect response late February/ early March 2010

    • Looking into other options while waiting to hear from Duraspace

  • Offline Storage

    • 5 institutions identified for pilot project

    • Group is working on instructions; pilot to begin spring 2010

  • Preservation training

    • Looking into sending individuals (2) to national training Digital Preservation for Digital Collaboratives in April. BCR, LYRASIS and OCLC are presenting this new workshop, partially funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

    • Contacting vendors on basic training that may be offered to members

    • Subgroup looking at standards and policy recommendations 

  • Hosting (Institutional Repository)

    • Will create series of small webinars on options of systems for Deans/Directors to review

    • Moving forward on WSU offering to host via DSpace

    • Continued to look at outside hosting options for different systems

    • May also look at hosted Open Journal Systems

  • Scanning & reformatting 

    • Create list of vendors used by members

    • Create a pilot using audio conversion to test out pricing advantages on the consortial level

  • Discovery prototype

    • Consulted with University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and will continue to look at relationship opportunities. Jodi will be meeting with UIUC folks at Webwise to further discussions

    • Subgroup looking at best benefit that the Alliance/NWDA can contribute and benefit in such a project
