Introductions

All members introduced themselves.

Operations of the DC JWG

Jodi provided an overview of the roles of individuals on a joint working group and infrastructure available.

Role of this group, the CCD Team, and the Digital Content Metadata Group

Jodi reviewed the charge of the CCD Team, this group, and the group that convened briefly to construct the digital content metadata standards that this group will not move forward.

Overview of DPLA Proposal

Jodi provided an overview of the DPLA proposal that the board will consider this Friday and explained how the work of this group relates to that initiative.

Review of draft metadata standards

Jodi provided a quick overview of the draft metadata standards for digital content, their intent, and the next steps anticipated.

Overview of COE for digital formats

Jodi provided an overview of the COE for digital formats. This group will likely be the advisory team for that initiative.

Draft of survey

Jodi and Isaac provided an overview of the survey that they and Rose drafted prior to this meeting. The survey will go out to CCD Representatives to answer on behalf of their institutions and will gather information on DAMs and IRs currently in use and current and desired practices for managing unique collections in shared Primo and Alma.

Next steps/action items

We are waiting on the Collaborative Workforce Team for a Representative and would prefer not to move forward until that person is in place.

We also have time constraints. While we need not complete the survey before the Council meeting, we need to avoid the holiday season.

Timing of survey and metadata standards: Concurrently may be overwhelming; likely better in sequence. But there are some things we could do concurrently.

First: Team feedback on metadata standards: Request very targeted feedback from other Teams

First and concurrent: Survey process with CCD representatives (also gives them some heads-up/prep to review standards)

Second: CCD Representative feedback on metadata standards, including webinar on metadata standards.

Wrap up all before Thanksgiving holiday.
