Academic Complete Subscription - Starts Soon!

The Alliance's subscription to Academic Complete will be active on September 15th. All member libraries will have access, and Ebrary support will send each library their specific URL to access the collection.

Current Ebrary Academic Complete customers are entitled to a pro-rated refund, or they may apply the funds to purchasing ebook titles from ebrary. Speak to your sales rep about this, and ask me if you have questions.

A small group is still investigating the best way of sharing title-level records with all Alliance libraries. A positive central management solution will depend on ProQuest's ability to consolidate access to the product with one URL for all libraries.

Electronic Resources - Contacts at the Alliance

As the Electronic Resources representatives have noticed, I am increasingly involved in the ER program to learn the ropes from Greg Doyle in his waning days. That means two of us are working on ER at the same time in Alliance history. That may be a little bit confusing.

Here's how we're trying to sort the work:
  • New offers, new journal agreements, extended negotiations - Kathi's area of responsibility
  • Subscription renewals - Greg's area of responsibility.
There is some grey area in this division as Greg wraps up the Thompson Reuters renewal and other similarly complicated projects. In the future, those tasks will fall to me.

John Helmer will be announcing a new position opening very soon for a staff person to assist me with subscription renewals and central ER management in Alma. Interested in applying? Contact Kathi Fountain with questions!

Purchased DDA Resources - Notes Visible in Primo

Several staff at member libraries requested a way to identify purchased DDA books in their Primo instance. Bob Thomas has investigated and implemented a solution to display the ownership status for DDA titles.
  • Purchased Books = "Orbis Cascade DDA Purchased Resource"
  • Unowned Books = "Orbis Cascade DDA Discovery Resource"

Best,
