Digital Collections: What's the Plan?

Digital Collections: What’s the Plan?

The Digital Collections Working Group, Metadata Applications Librarian, and I are pleased to release the Implementation Proposal for building digital collections capacity at the Alliance.

This proposal represents the next step in the implementation of the Digital Collections Service of the Content Creation & Dissemination Program. For this year, the Digital Collections Service is focusing on building capacity for digital collections metadata cleanup, training, and support. This includes implementing the Alliance's Dublin Core metadata standards, building a sustainable aggregation infrastructure at the Orbis Cascade Alliance, developing replicable supports, and making an application to be a Digital Public Library of America hub. A portion of this work is supported by and Oregon LSTA grant, which ends June 30, 2017.

We are sharing this packet of information about proposed plans for metadata remediation and aggregation to inform our members and enable them to give us knowledgeable feedback about how feasible these plans are for them. We want to ensure that our plans can produce the outcomes we need.

We invite you to review these plans--at either the “least you need” or “all the details”--as appropriate for your interests.
