Return Unwanted INN-Reach Items

To Return Unwanted INN-Reach Items: Holdshelf Report

Sometimes the requesting patron does not pick up an item, and library staff return it to the Owning Site without the item being checked out to the patron. Use Return Unwanted to "clear the hold shelf;" so that the status of the item is updated up through the final checkin at the Owning Site.

 1).

Print the INN-Reach Holdshelf Report

  • Change the current mode to Clear Holdshelf Mode
  • Select the Display INN-Reach holdshelf option
  • Select the location for which you want to print the INN-Reach Holdshelf report

 1).

Change the current mode to INN-Reach-Return Unwanted Mode

 2).

Scan the barcode of each item pulled from the Holdshelf

  • Millennium Circulation asks you whether you want to print a transit slip
    • No, don't print transit slip (Generally there's no need to print a transit slip, unless paging slip is lost)
  • Millennium Circulation asks whether you want to print a cancellation notice.
    • Answer yes or no according to your preferences
    • If you choose to print a transit slip, Millennium Circulation prints it immediately. If you choose to print a cancellation notice, you can print it from Notices mode.
  • Millennium Circulation adds the scanned item to the table. For example:

  • Repeat the previous step for every item listed on the INN-Reach Holdshelf Report

 3).

Send each item that you scanned to its owning site

For each INN-Reach item scanned in Return Unwanted Mode, the system will:

  • Remove the INN-Reach item from the Holdshelf file
  • Remove the INN-Reach hold from the Patron record
  • Change the INN-Reach virtual item STATUS from "RECEIVED" to "RETURNED"
  • Queue a cancellation notice to send to the patron, if the system is configured to print cancellations

Pickup Anywhere (PUA) and Clearing the Holdshelf

Pickup Anywhere (PUA) items appear on the "Received Too Long" report at the patron institution, not the PUA site. To identify PUA items on your Holdshelf (patron from another institution), go to Pickup Anywhere-Holdshelf mode, then select Show Expired Holds.
