Pickup options for patrons,
and paging slip files at local sites
When patrons request materials through Summit, they may choose to pick them up at a location at their home library or elsewhere within the home institution, as set up by the member institution, or at any other location set up for Pickup Anywhere by the other member institutions.
The patrons’ options are further expanded when the institution makes available Request at Own Site (or Same Site Requesting). That means patrons can request materials even when available at the home institution.

There are two files, or queues, where paging slips might appear as a result of requests made on Summit: INN-Reach paging queue, and Pickup Anywhere (PUA) paging queue. The two queues may be combined into a single file for printing on Millennium (contact Innovative Interfaces for setup). Regular Summit paging slips can be printed through either the text-based (INNOPAC) or Millennium catalog. PUA paging slips may be printed only through the text-based catalog, unless combined with the regular paging slips in Millennium. In other words, to print PUA slips separately, they must be printed from the text-based catalog. Advantage to combining the files: all requests are sorted into a single location and call number order for retrieving items. Disadvantage to combining: Staff processing the outgoing materials may fail to notice the Pickup Anywhere text on the paging slip, process the item incorrectly and not add the PUA sticker to the bookband/label.
Paging
slips for requests made by patrons at other member institutions. The material
will be sent to the patron’s home library for pickup at the patron’s home
library locations.
Example: Oregon State University faculty requests a Univ. of Washington item for pick up at OSU circ desk in Corvallis.
Example: UW patron requests a UW item for pick up at a UW circ desk.
Paging
slips for requests made by patrons at other member institutions. The materials
may be owned either by the patron’s home institution or some other
institution. In either case, the patron
has selected some other institution, and not the patron’s home institution, for
the pickup location.
Example 1: from another member: Evergreen student requests a book from UW for pick up at University of Portland.
Example 2: from home institution: UW grad student requests a book on Summit that is available at the UW, and selects a pick up location at the University of Puget Sound.
