How Summit displays local order information

INN-Reach software displays order information based on the contents of the RDATE field from the local order record.

... # copies ordered on [date]
 or
... # copies in process As III explains it, the software extrapolates this information from the local order record based on presence or absence of a date in the RDATE field. Depending what it finds, it composes a phrase for subfield f of the order field in an institution record. example, local order information stored in Summit institution record

Orders that have been canceled continue to display in Summit as "ordered" until they are deleted or suppressed, because the RDATE field at the local site is still "blank".

Enhancement scheduled for R2002 Phase 3: cancellation status will be displayed.

Suppress. These Alliance members routinely code canceled orders so they do not display in the local and union catalog: Linfield, OIT, Reed, UO, UP, WU, WOU. (OIT suppresses all order records.) (Remember: suppressed records will be displayed when starting from a Staff --or "tech"-- search menu in Summit, but will not show up from a pass-through search.)

Display. These Alliance members display at least some if not all canceled orders until they are deleted: EOU, GFU, L&C, SOU.

"We generally keep them in display because we recommend the professors check on their orders via the OPAC and this way they can see the status is cancelled vs still on order."--EOU
"Informational to anyone interested in the order and receipt of the item in question."--GFU
