Item status codes

 

Item status codes are shared by all Alliance member institutions, and are cooperatively adopted and defined.

USED BY

System-supplied or system-supported codes and INNOPAC standard codes are, for the purposes of this table, "used" by all libraries (individual libraries may choose not to use the code, but the purpose and definition are the same for everyone). Some local (Alliance-defined) codes are shared by all libraries; others are shared by a few. Local codes are kept to a minimum, since Alliance members share a single set of codes to cover all uses.

code e (Avail Online): Guidelines for Cataloging Electronic Resources suggests using code <e> for Free Resources, and for proprietary resources use the status code <-> with an Item Type (IType) code that maps to non-circulating (201) in Summit.

Some of these codes are not essential for the union catalog. Codes designed for virtual items at local sites are added as a "stop gap", in case the code accidentally slips into Summit (when real items accidentally get status codes used in virtual items, through edit errors at local)
