Records and institution fields: 947, 948, 949
The Local PAC field, or
"Institution Linking Field" stores information linking the union
catalog record to the local records at each institution associated with that
title. Holdings and other institution-specific information is stored in the
Item, Order, and Checkin fields of Institution Records. This information
is visible from the staff display,
using shift-asterisk.

A. LOCAL PAC FIELD (Institution Linking Field): 945 in bib record
At the bottom of the bibliographic record
are the institution linking fields. These fields link the union catalog record
with bib. records in local catalogs. For members sharing a server, there will
be only one linking field, reflecting the server’s identity: there will not be
a separate institution linking field for any associated agency. Although rare,
an institution may have more than one record associated with the union catalog
record.
In the example below,
the union catalog record is associated with local records at several sites: UO,
Linfield, Lewis & Clark, WOU, SOU, UP, UPS, OIT, GFU, Whitman, and OSU.
