Institution site codes display in several situations:

• branch field in bibliographic record (this fixed field does not represent a branch or location; it is the "owner" of the master bib. record)
• local PAC ("institution linking") field at end of bib. record, displayed in Staff mode. Examples of non-MARC and MARC field, see subfield a (first subfield).  Note, for members using Agency Model, this is the code for the server, not the individual agency.

• Institution records and for members on Agency model, in |q of 856, 947, 948, and 949 fields (hotlink, checkin, order, and item)
• the temporary patron and item fields attached to item and patron records (the "virtual records" created for Summit Borrowing).

Institution labels display in Holdings information and Summit Borrowing transactions. These are set by Alliance staff working with Innovative Interfaces.

The short name is used in the character-based ("telnet") OPAC, on the initial holdings screen for a bibliographic record, where one, two, three or more institutions are listed in a single line. Maximum 6 characters.

The full name is used on subsequent Institution holding display screens, in both telnet and Web OPAC. Maximum 25 characters, formerly 16 characters.

Circ Address: When adding Alliance institution codes for Summit Borrowing, use any value for the “circ address” field – such as 0 or 1 (recommendation: use the code for the primary or main circulation point).  It is necessary to have some value in the field, but it is not actually used for any INN-Reach processes.
