Packing items into Courier bags
Reducing wear & tear and loss from
Shipping
The
primary concerns are to
|
1. Small vs. large bag. Use an appropriate
size bag to ensure a snug fit; smaller bags holding only one stack of books
will remain more rigid. Use the “extra
large” bags for an oversize book, |
|
|
2. Separate piles. If there are two stacks within
a bag, adjust books so that each stack has the same dimensions. |
|
|
3. Spines. Place books with the spines facing the bottom of
the bag. If there are two stacks of books within the bag, spines should face
inward and abut each-other. |
|
|
4.
Small or thin? Items
that may be "lost" in a courier bag, such as 1- or 2-page
documents, pamphlets, and microfiche, should be placed in a large mailing
envelope before placing in the courier bag. This prevents the item from
"floating" around in the bag, getting wedged inside another item,
or otherwise becoming lost or damaged. |
