Pickup Anywhere:
setup instructions for local sites

(Based on information supplied by Innovative Interfaces Inc.)

1. Ports

Open ports 4465 and 4470 on Local Servers to incoming and outgoing messages (working with campus network administrators as necessary).

2. Location codes

Branch (location). Add all the codes for each Pickup Anywhere location to your local server's Branch (location) table. (Per III, it is not necessary to add the codes for your own institution.)

Locations Served. If you already define pickup locations in your Locations Served table, add the new codes to this table as well.

3. Paging slips

New Paging slip text (following III configuration on local server)

Set the Pickup Anywhere Pageslips: Text # circulation option to specify which text message the system includes on Pickup Anywhere paging slips. For information on creating text messages, see Text of Circulation Notices Table in III documentation.

example:

Paging Slip - ***PICKUP ANYWHERE REQUEST***

A hold has been placed on the following item for the patron listed above.

Please pull this item and forward it to the library location given above.

Also see illustration of paging slips and the sources of information for the individual components.

Printing the paging slips

PUA Paging slips are queued in a separate file (i.e. separate from "regular" INN-Reach Summit Borrowing transactions). You can print each file separately each day, or you can combine the requests into a single file to print. For information and pros and cons of combining PUA paging slips with the regular INN-Reach paging slips file, see the web page on Pickup options for patrons, and paging slip file. To combine the files, contact III.

4. Login Manager and PUA key (following III configuration on local server)

Complete the following steps for each login that will be used to process Pickup Anywhere transactions"

a. Enable the Pickup Anywhere mode in the Login Manager (see Modes Tab in Login Manager).

b. Assign the key for that Pickup Anywhere location to the login (see Pickup Anywhere Tab in Login Manager). For your site’s key, contact Orbis Cascade Alliance staff.

Pickup Anywhere Loan Rules

Institution checkout to the remote site: same as institution checkout for regular INN-Reach (Summit Borrowing) requests.

Patron checkout: the system will determine the DUE DATE based on a loan period defined in the PUA loan rule determiner at central (i.e. Summit).

All other aspects of the loan, including renewals and notices, are determined by the Loan Rule stored in the virtual item, which is generated
by the requesting patron's local server.
