Summit Problem Reporting
Background
We ask that problems be reported only by
the Summit Migration Contact, Summit Borrowing Committee members, or Circ contacts
for each institution.
One required element of the problem report form is "Problem area," which
supplies a number of defined types of issues that will help us
prioritize and route problems. Triage will be performed by a core group (initially Nathanson, Kibbey, Boock, Fenske, Lim, and Chappell) that will prioritize problems, answer where appropriate and forward others to experts in
particular areas. Experts will use the Problem solving protocol as a guide and, as needed, elevate issues to OCLC staff for resolution.
In very early 2009 we expect to establish a new set of contacts from member libraries that will serve as the clearinghouse for problem
reporting. This will be similar to our familiar system of Summit
borrowing and cataloging liaisons. At that time, we also expect to
convert problem tracking to a database system that will be available to
contacts at member libraries.
