Meeting notes May 13
Several important initial tasks are identified:
- How does it work? Most importantly, we need some detailed information on how OCLC will capture and display local hotlinks that retain customized information for patron access, etc.
- Survey members. Get information on where members store hotlinks, and how the data is stored (MARC and non-MARC fields in various kinds of records, subfields, etc.). Also good to know whether members subscribe to OCLC's eholdings service.
- Ask OCLC for: access to their project for California's catalog, and what they need to know from us.
The bottom line: we need local hotlinks to be used, not just the hotlink that happens to be in OCLC's master record.
Other notes: Should members consider moving (or copying?) URL's in notes into Local Holdings Records?
