The
SCC is responsible for developing recommendations to Council concerning
the future of the Summit catalog. SCC identifies emerging issues and
creates recommendations that aid the development and use of the Summit
catalog. The scope of work includes usability but does not include
circulation functions, which are the responsibility of the Summit
Borrowing Committee (SBC).
The
committee membership is composed of member library staff with diverse
backgrounds and responsibilities including those who create and use
library catalogs. In this spirit, the committee seeks to gather diverse
input from all member libraries and create recommendations designed to
serve the consortium as a whole. The SCC actively shares information
with and seeks input from the SBC and other Alliance committees.
The
Resource Sharing Program Manager supports the work of the committee by
recommending topics for discussion, forwarding selected system
enhancement issues, and providing background research related to vendor
products and system capabilities. The Program Manager may also seek
feedback and advice from the SCC membership on issues related to the
maintenance of Summit.
