Executive Committee Elections

Adopted by Council: January 22, 2004

Process for electing one Chair-Elect and two Members-at-Large.

February, 1st week:

Executive Director (ED) announces election process via email. Council members are asked to indicate if they wish to have their name removed from contention for the Chair-Elect and/or Member-at-Large positions. Council members have two weeks to respond.

February, 3rd week:

ED conducts an election for Chair-Elect. Council members have one week to respond. If one candidate receives a majority of the votes cast then that person is elected. Otherwise, the two candidates receiving the largest number of votes (more than two if there is a tie) are forwarded for a second vote.

February, 4th week +

As needed, the ED conducts runoff elections for the candidates receiving the largest number of votes until one receives a majority of the votes cast. Council members have one week to respond to each ballot. ED announces the results of the election for Chair-Elect.
March, 1st week: ED conducts an election for two Members-at-Large. Council members vote for two candidates and have one week to respond. Any candidate who receives a majority of the votes cast is elected. Otherwise, the four candidates receiving the largest number of votes (perhaps more than four if there is a tie, perhaps less if one candidate is elected in the first round) are forwarded for a second vote.

March, 2nd week +

As needed, the ED conducts runoff elections for the top candidates until two receive a majority of the votes cast. Council members have one week to respond to each ballot. ED announces the results of Member-at-Large elections.
