Courier Service RFP Explanationlast updated: April 21, 2005 What’s going on? Why an RFP? The current contract for courier service expires on June 30, 2005. When the previous proposal was developed in 2000, the process called for a one-year contract, with up to four one-year extensions, for a total of no more than 5 years before calling for new proposals. The “Request for Proposal” (RFP) process ensures open, competitive bidding to obtain the best value (service and price) for the members. The RFPThe RFP describes the service, including mandatory elements to maintain the kind of service currently offered, plus desirable elements that would enhance service to members and management oversight by Orbis Cascade Alliance.
The ProcessLetters were mailed to nearly 30 courier vendors, and advertisements were placed in major metropolitan newspapers in Oregon (1) and Washington (2). Vendors were invited to submit proposals. Proposals were received from 4 vendors. A scoring committee comprised of 6 members (4 current dropsite representatives from Oregon and Washington and 2 Orbis Cascade Alliance staff members) met on April 20 to review proposals. Following successful negotiations, we will announce the vendor selected.
