1. Regional Library Services Center (RLSC)

An endorsement of current activity reflected in the charge of the RLSC Leadership Group & RLSC Planning Web page.

Recent activity
July 2007:
RLSC is not funded in the Oregon budget for 2007-09. RLSC drew much support but narrowly missed the cutoff for capital construction projects. Alliance Executive Committee will consider next steps and bring recommendations to Council for consideration in November 2007.
March 2007:
Council approves a slightly revised version of the RLSC Leadership Group recommendations.
December 2006:
End of the current initiative with UO as fiscal agent and Linfield as host site. RLSC Leadership Group finalizes Alternatives for the future of the RLSC initiative, a recommendation that will be considered by Council in March 2007. For more information see the Alliance News for December 2006.
December 2006: Oregon Governor's recommended budget for 2007-09 is released and includes $4.6 million (ca. half of construction funding) in Lottery Bonds for RLSC. See Governor's budget, Capital Budgeting, p. M-3
November 14, 2006:
RLSC Leadership Group conference call. The Group works on "alternatives for the future of the RLSC initiative" as requested by Council during its October 5 meeting.
November 6, 2006: Linfield College & University of Oregon Site Meeting

2. Cooperative Collection Development

July 2007: Collection Development & Management Committee Chair presents the CDMC Report (contact Elizabeth Duell for access) to Council. Council approves the Print Repository MOU in principle and charges CDMC with coordinating the efforts of member institutions that elect to collaborate in the use of YBP Library Services.
April 13, 2007: Collection Development & Management Committee meets with vendors responding to the monographic vendor RFI.
March 1-2, 2007:

3. Digital Services Program

4. Northwest Digital Archives (NWDA)

Recent activity
July 2007: Northwest Digital Archives becomes a program of the Alliance. NWDA Committee is formed and Steering Team members are appointed. NWDA Program Manager provides a report and presentation to Council.
March 1-2, 2007:
Council approves
NWDA program budget as part of the Alliance budget for FY08
December 14, 2006:
21 continuing and 8 new institutions commit to an NWDA Program in FY08. Alliance Executive Committee reviews commitments and the resulting budget and approves formation of the Alliance NWDA Program.
November 22, 2006:
Deadline for institutions making a commitment to the NWDA program in FY08. Jodi Allison-Bunnell works with existing NWDA participants. John F. Helmer works with new Alliance participants.

5. LITA Institutional Repository Institute

Organize and host a LITA Institutional Repository Institute.

November 2006: LITA indicates that they cannot currently offer an IR institute. As a result, EC places this initiative on hold.
October 2006:
David Bilyeu leads an initial investigation and consults with Helen Spalding concerning PSU as a potential site.

6. Collaborate with Regional and National Organizations

Recent activity
June 2007: Library and Media Directors' Council (LMDC) initiative is not funded in the Washington budget.
May 2007: Executive Committee continues discussion of models for collaboration with state libraries.
March 2007: WSL declines to continue seeking membership in the Alliance.

February 26, 2007: Executive Committee meets with Washington and Oregon State Librarians in Olympia; Executive Committee meets with the Washington Library and Media Directors' Council (LMDC) in Olympia.
January 11-12, 2007: Executive Committee discusses inquiries from Oregon State Library, Washington State Library, and Washington Library and Media Directors' Council (LMDC).
November 9, 2006:
Alliance co-sponsors the
Northwest Academic Library Directors Symposium
October 2006: Joint TF on a Digital Assets Initiative retired

7. Building Adequate Organizational Capacity

Creation of a Digital Services Program Manager position (1 FTE) and NWDA Program Manager position (.5 FTE).
