Orbis membership in the Center for Research Libraries began October, 1998. To help assess the value of the consortium membership for this trial period, Orbis members will record CRL InterLibrary Loan transactions beginning October 1. (Orbis Borrowing transactions will automatically be counted, and posted, through the usual system reporting.) Data from both kinds of borrowing -- ILL and OB -- will be cumulated and reported to Council.

Please record the ILL transactions for CRL items when the patron picks up the material. See example at end of message.

Patrons

Count each patron in the appropriate category: Faculty, Graduate student, Undergraduate student, Staff.

Items

Count the item in the category book, microfiche, other.
If one patron picks up two different items, add "1" to patrons and "2" to items.
If a patron has borrowed a multi-volume set (for example, 4 volumes of a single title) count that as 4 items.
For several microfiche loaned as one title, count it as 1.

Unfilled requests, etc.

If CRL is unable to supply the requested item, please record it as an unfilled request.

Feel free to keep a running total or make "stick figures" as it suits you; Orbis will ask for end-of-month totals.
